This now seems to have been done: Seat will abandon its automotive activity by the end of the decade to focus on electric scooters, scooters and quadricycles.

“Death warrant” seemed like a rather strong expression used in one of our previous articles to describe the future of Seat in the face of the success of Cupra, its former sports division which became independent, but the reality is not so far from it. During an interview granted to our English colleagues fromAutocarthe leaders of the Spanish brand have indeed hinted that they could completely abandon car production by the end of the decade to reposition itself as an urban mobility label targeting young people.

And it is a shift that has already been initiated: there is currently no electric car in the range of the Iberian manufacturer, the Ibiza, the Leon, the Leon Sportstourer, the Arona, the Ateca and the Tarraco being available at best in a plug-in hybrid version in terms of electrification and no project before at least 2026.
