Seattle Kraken makes it to the NHL playoffs for the first time

In their second year in the North American ice hockey league NHL, the Seattle Kraken have reached the playoffs for the first time. Seattle defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 on Thursday to secure promotion. In their freshman season, Seattle had ranked 30th out of 32 teams.

This means that seven of the eight playoff participants in the Western Conference have been determined. The Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators are playing for the last promotion spot. There are still two spots left in the Eastern Conference. The Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins and, with outsider chances, the Buffalo Sabers are playing for it.
