Rumors had been buzzing on social media for several weeks. The star host of NRJ, Sébastien Cauet, is the target of a complaint for two rapes, including one of a minor over 15 years old, revealed the Obs this Tuesday, November 21. It comes from a woman now aged 25, who dropped it off at the Saint-Laurent-sur-Saône (Ain) gendarmerie on Saturday November 18.
The alleged victim, Julie, is now a medical secretary. During her two hearings by the gendarmes on November 18 and 20, she first denounced facts which allegedly took place in 2014, in Geneva. Sébastien Cauet allegedly called her into his room, under the pretext of listening to a model prepared by the teenage radio fan. She was then 16 years old. “He sat next to me, he removed the button of his pants and lowered them slightly a few centimeters while taking out his penis,” before asking for oral sex, Julie said. “He then told me that I had to do it if I wanted to succeed […] in that world, it worked like that.” “I felt at an impasse […] I bent down and performed oral sex which lasted a few seconds,” she recalled. Before being “saved” by repeated phone calls from her sister-in-law, who is also in Switzerland.
She also denounced a second rape dating back to 2022, in a parking lot where the host allegedly forced her again to perform oral sex on him. This, after “recurring sexual pressure, attested by the exchanges of messages that she kept,” she declared to Obs.
Julie says she decided to file a complaint after these years following publications on social networks. “I could no longer stand seeing Cauet post his vacation photos […], to live his life, while he had stopped mine,” she told the weekly. The young woman made contact at the end of September with the person running the controversial Zoé Sagan account on X (formerly Twitter), followed by nearly 150,000 subscribers. This account then published a call for testimonials on the behavior of celebrities. Then Julie decided to publish itselfin November, what she claims was a conversation with the radio host, now 51 years old, without specifying the context.
Six other testimonies
Targeted by several accusations and numerous messages, Sébastien Cauet filed a complaint for harassment, he announced on November 17 on X. “I am deeply shocked by the accusations made against me here. These allegations are completely false,” he defended. His employer, the NRJ group, simply “reaffirmed its commitment to strict respect for people’s rights”, in a statement.
The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office cited two complaints for “harassment of a person by means of a public online communication service”. An investigation was entrusted to the brigade for the suppression of delinquency against the person (BRDP).
But L’Obs says it has collected testimonies from six other women, as well as a former collaborator of Sébastien Cauet, from the mid-1990s until today. At Skyrock as at NRJ, these confirmed the “hypersexualized” atmosphere in the host’s team within his production company Be Aware, with permanent “sex jokes”, a “tactile” attitude, “uncomfortable” questions about their sexuality.
During an internship in the company Be Aware, Aude (first name has been changed), 21 years old at the time in 2012, said she found herself in the host’s dressing room, which he locked , before “pushing her against the wall, saying: ‘Give me a kiss’”. Mathilde was 18 years old in 1998. She often attended Cauet’s morning show when he was on Skyrock. At the end of a show, he allegedly offered to take her to work. “We went to the radio parking lot, and in his car, he suddenly unbuttoned and asked me for oral sex,” she told L’Obs. The young woman says she is “ready to go and testify openly in court, to support Julie”.
At the peak of his popularity, Sébastien Cauet presented the second part of the evening talk show La methode Cauet on TV on TF1, from 2003 to 2008.
