Back in 2021, when Peter Edelmann was responsible for the Mörbisch Lake Festival, there was a verbal skirmish with Alfons Haider during the audience greeting before the premiere of “West Side Story”. Edelmann indirectly lamented his disempowerment. No wonder. It was already clear that Haider, who was installed at the same time as General Manager, would start the musical “The King And I” in 2022 instead of Edelmann’s “Merry Widow”.
