Selfie: Man Dies From Helicopter Propeller Hit

A tragedy could have been caused by a selfie. A man, allegedly attempting to take a photograph, has died after being hit by helicopter blades in Athens, Greece.

The victim was a 22-year-old man named Jack Fenton, and witnesses say they yelled at him to be careful, but he didn’t listen because he was distracted by his cell phone.

The circumstances of the tragedy

Jack was returning from Mykonos with three friends in the rented helicopter when the tragedy occurred.

He disembarked from the helicopter and was hit by the rotor after the plane landed at the Superior Air helipad in Spata.

His fellow passengers and the pilot reeled in terror when they saw the propellers kill him instantly at around 6:20 p.m. local time.

The pilot of the black Bell 407 craft, who is said to be “deeply traumatized” by the incident, and two ground technicians have been arrested.

Cops are considering that the young man may have been trying to take a selfie with the helicopter in his investigation.

A police source told The Sun: “We are examining all eventualities, including the possibility that the young man walked towards the helicopter while taking a selfie in the spur of the moment.”

His friend Jack Stanton-Gleaves, who was in the same helicopter as Jack, said “no instructions were given” as he exited the helicopter, saying he doesn’t know why his friend turned to the rear blade.
