Sens Reach Tentative Agreement with Michael Andlauer as Next Owner: Impact on Patrick Roy's Future

The Senators have reached a tentative agreement with whoever should become their next owner, reported the Ottawa Sun, Tuesday. This is Michael Andlauer, who is currently a minority shareholder in the Canadian.

The Ottawa concession should be sold to the Andlauer group for close to $1 billion.

According to sources from Ottawa Sunthe sale file will now be in the hands of National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman and members of the Board of Governors, who will have to approve the deal.

The Senators had been looking for a new owner since last November. The organization is currently owned by Olivia and Anna Melnyk, heiresses of former owner Eugene Melnyk, who passed away in March 2022.

Michael Andlauer is the new owner of the @Senators and he will eventually sell his shares in the @CanadiensMTL. The sale of @Senators must first be approved by NHL governors and the sale can take a very long time to finalize.

TSN insider Darren Dreger mentioned during the Memorial Cup tournament that one of the groups looking to buy the Senators would like Roy becomes the team’s head coach.

The identity of the group in question has not been specified, but many believe that it is that of Mr. Andlauer. The latter was part of the committee responsible for appointing a replacement for Marc Bergevin as general manager of the Habs, in January 2022, along with Geoff Molson, Jeff Gorton and Bob Gainey.
