A video of a police officer quickly subduing a woman who entered the police station with a weapon held to her neck is becoming a hot topic. It took less than three seconds for the police officer to approach the woman and snatch her weapon.

According to a video released by Gangseo Police Station in Seoul on the 15th, the incident took place at Kkachisan District University on September 25th. At the time, the woman had been holding the weapon to her neck since entering her district. As a result, there was tension among the police officers working at the district headquarters.

The woman sat on the chair provided inside the earth platform. The police instructed the woman to “put down the weapon” and at the same time wore anti-bullying gloves to prepare for an unexpected situation.

When the police attempted to talk to her, the woman began to express her feelings of injustice due to the conflict with the business owner. However, she still did not put down the weapon. There was no way to know what unexpected situation might arise if time was delayed.

In the end, the police decided to subdue the woman with force. The police officers exchanged glances, and then one police officer on the woman’s right threw himself. It took the police just over 3 seconds to approach the woman and take away her knife. Afterwards, another police officer joined in and handcuffed the woman. Fortunately, there were no casualties during this process.

Netizens reacted to the video showing the police’s quick response with comments such as “It’s literally the speed of light” and “Lightning.” Some netizens responded with comments such as “What kind of unfair story was this that led to the knife attack at Earth University?” and “I think he just needed someone to listen to him.”

Meanwhile, the woman was found to have been drunk at the time and committed a violent attack with a weapon, and was sent without detention on charges of drunken disorder in a government office under the Misdemeanor Punishment Act. She was hospitalized at risk of further self-harm, but was reportedly discharged the same day.
