Series win: India move up in World Test Championship points table

Dubai: India advanced to the World Test Championship points table after a convincing victory in the second Test against Sri Lanka. India moved up one place to fourth in the points table after sweeping the Test series against Sri Lanka. India have played 11 Tests so far in four series as part of the World Test Championship, winning six and losing three.

Two ended in a draw. Despite having 77 points, the success rate in the series will be decisive. India lost three penalty overs for a low over rate. The ICC imposes a one-point reduction on the World Test Championship and a penalty of 20 per cent of the match fee for each over not bowled within the allotted time.

With four wins and two draws in two series, Australia leads the table with a pass percentage of 77.77. Winning the Karachi Test against Pakistan could activate Australia’s hopes of a final with 55 points. Pakistan are second with 66.66 wins, three wins, one loss and one draw from five Tests in three series. With three wins and two losses from two series, South Africa are third with a 60.00 winning percentage.
