The 19-year-old from the Scheibbs district (Lower Austria) was riding his time trial bike on the B152 from Weißenbach am Attersee towards Unterach at the cycling event on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. when the handlebars of his bike suddenly came loose shortly before a narrow point. The athlete twisted his bike, hit a traffic sign and fell. He was seriously injured and was taken to the Salzkammergutklinikum Vöcklabruck after first aid from rescue and racing doctors. There was serious damage to the bike.
