It was 9:50 a.m. this Saturday morning on the Diskmuidebaan, in Ichtegem (West Flanders), when a loud “BOOM” was heard. This noise was caused by the collision between a Fiat 500 and a motorcycle. “I reversed my car from my driveway,” the driver of the car told Nieuwsblad.
She assures him, at that time, the two-wheeled vehicle was not on the road. “It was when I got back on the road that this man hit the back of my car,” she said. Following this impact, the motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and landed hard on the ground. Initially treated on site, the victim suffered serious leg injuries and severe chest pain. Seriously injured, he was taken to hospital.
In shock, the driver of the Fiat 500 explains that “the blow was so violent that all the neighbors came out to see what had happened and help the man”. She also adds that a witness “saw the motorcyclist suddenly accelerate on the road, which was wet, a few moments before. It is clear that he hit my car at very high speed. »
