Former Big Bang member Seungri has confirmed he is legally married to a non-celebrity woman in her 20s and expecting their first child in early 2027. The revelation emerged during legal fallout from an alleged restaurant assault in Seoul.
The disgraced K-pop star, legally named Lee Seung-hyun, stunned the public when reports surfaced regarding his impending fatherhood and newly established home in Gangnam District, southern Seoul. While initial accounts suggested the couple planned to marry after the birth, Seungri clarified to local media outlet Ilgan Sports that the two had already registered their marriage, dismissing speculation that the pregnancy preceded the wedding.
Seungri debuted with the boy band Big Bang in 2006 under YG Entertainment alongside members G-Dragon, Daesung, Taeyang, and T.O.P, gaining major domestic and international popularity before his departure. Online media outlet Gray News first reported on October 27 that his partner in her 20s was pregnant with a baby boy expected in January next year. Follow-up reports confirmed that the couple had already completed their marriage registration and set up a newlywed home in Seoul’s Gangnam District. Seungri stated that they are not considering holding a separate wedding ceremony at this time and are focusing on prenatal care.
Legal Troubles and the Soju Bottle Incident in Gangnam
The domestic news broke amid a separate criminal complaint filed against the 36-year-old singer in August. A man in his 30s accused Seungri and his acquaintances of assault, threats, and unlawful confinement following an altercation at a restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul. According to the allegations, a man who was drunk and seated at another table suddenly asked to join them and discuss a business idea, leading to an argument after Seungri declined several times.

According to the Intellectual Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Seungri appeared for questioning regarding these matters, alongside separate suspicions involving foreign exchange transactions.

Reflections on Family Responsibility and Past Burning Sun Controversies
During the investigation into the restaurant altercation, Seungri reportedly made remarks indicating that he had a family to protect.

In his interview addressing the reports, Seungri expressed remorse for his past actions while asking the public to respect his wife’s privacy as a non-celebrity. He has largely remained out of the domestic entertainment industry since retiring in March 2019 at the height of the Burning Sun scandal.
Now that I am responsible for a family, I feel a greater sense of responsibility. I deeply regret disappointing and hurting people through my past wrongdoing, and I will show how I have changed by living a quiet and conscientious life.
