OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Several people were injured Saturday during what authorities said was an “active shooter” situation at a central Florida shopping center.
The Ocala Police Department said it was responding to a shooting at the Paddock Shopping Center in Ocala, located regarding 80 miles (128 kilometers) northwest of Orlando.
Police later reported on social media that the suspect had fled and that the shopping center was being evacuated.
People were asked not to approach the area.
