After the high temperatures on Tuesday, people in northern Germany also have to prepare for storms in some areas on Wednesday night. According to meteorologists, thunderstorms with heavy rain, squalls and hail are possible.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), heavy showers and thunderstorms with a risk of heavy rain can pass from southern Lower Saxony to the North Sea and the Elbe in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Between 15 and 25 liters of rain can fall within a short time. Stormy gusts with speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour and hail with a diameter of two centimeters can also fall. During the night, the clouds move further north, which is why heavier precipitation is also possible on the coast – for example in East Frisia and the district of Friesland. The risk of heavy rain should decrease significantly in the early Wednesday morning.

Strong thunderstorms also possible in SH, MV and Hamburg
In the other northern German federal states there can also be isolated storms: In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern there may be heavy showers and thunderstorms as well as heavy rain in places, especially in the second half of the night. In Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein are also possible in some areas on Wednesday night with showers, isolated thunderstorms and heavy rain.
