You probably know that unprotected sex is very dangerous for your health. However, intimacy can sometimes lead to completely unexpected consequences.

Pain that cannot be relieved by pills
It all started with the fact that after sex the woman had a very severe headache. At first she tried to improve the situation with medication, but over time the situation only got worse. Even aspirin tablets didn’t help.
Additionally, after a while, another new symptom appeared: vision loss. After that, the woman decided to seek help from a doctor.
Initially, doctors thought it was a “sexual headache” – the so-called migraine that appears after sex. Apparently, a headache after sex can begin to hurt for the same reasons as after active training – due to a sharp increase in blood pressure.
Dilated blood vessels are thought to tighten the muscles of the head, neck and shoulders, causing severe discomfort.
As a rule, such a headache does not lead to serious consequences. However, for those who already have certain problems with the cardiovascular system, this can lead to a brain hemorrhage.
In the case of an elderly American woman, this is exactly what happened. Doctors in South Dakota scanned the patient’s brain and discovered a large mass of blood compressing her occipital lobe, the area of the brain responsible for vision.
The doctors came to the conclusion: the patient suffered Hemorrhagic stroke.
Who is at risk

There are no standards
As Dr. Alexei Vodovozov points out, there are no specific standards or indicators prescribing exactly how many times a week a person should have sex. People are very different on this issue. And that doesn’t mean that sex enthusiasts are necessarily healthier people.
Scientists have repeatedly tried to study this question. The authors of the work, published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, studied the sexual habits and behavior of more than 26,000 people from 1989 to 2014.
It turned out that the average person has sex 54 times a year, or about once a week. Contrary to stereotypes, marriage does not greatly influence this parameter: on average, married couples have sex 51 times a year.
But age really does have a pretty big effect on libido. While 20-year-olds told scientists they had sex about 80 times a year, 60-year-olds reported having sex only 20 times in the past 12 months.
When it comes to sex, quality clearly plays a more important role than location and frequency. It is therefore far from true that sex “for health” will actually benefit you and have a beneficial effect on your condition.
Of course, intimate relationships have their benefits. This strengthens emotional bonds with another person, thereby reducing stress. Good sex improves cognitive health, helps lower blood pressure, improve sleep, reduce the risk of prostate cancer and strengthen the immune system. There is, however, an important nuance: all of this is true specifically for orgasms and ejaculations, and not for sexual acts as such.
