Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction is named Shiv Sena in the upcoming assembly by-elections in Maharashtra. The Election Commission ordered that the party symbol ‘Arrow and Bow’ should be allotted to the Shinde faction. The action of the commission is pending in the Supreme Court regarding the right of the party. The faction led by Uddhav Thackeray may contest under the name Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray). The symbol is ‘Theepantham’. On June 22 last year, Eknath Shinde split the party and became the Chief Minister with the help of the BJP. Majority of MLAs and MPs of the party are with Shinde.
