Shortage in nurseries: “it would be better to find a place before conceiving your child”, testifies a dad

Father of a little Emilia born in May, Fabian Sorée, resident of Yvoir, is disappointed. “I’m looking for a crèche, but I’ve been on the waiting list since November“, he explains. “I looked around my home in Yvoir, Assesse, Erpent, Namur, but I mightn’t find them, and I received several refusals. Several directors told me that it was very difficult to accept children in this moment.”

The professional constraints of Fabian and his partner do not help, nothing: employed in a nursing home, they both work full time from 7am. “We have no choice, we have to find a place” specifies Fabian. The alternative if the situation does not resolve, it remains the grandparents. “But it’s not their role to keep a baby all week. They are pensioners, they have the right to take advantage of it.” And ironically: “In fact, today it would be better to find a place before to conceive a child”
