Shreyas was a former Delhi Capitals player. Shreyas missed the first quarter of the 2021 season due to a shoulder injury. Rishabh, who came back in the second quarter but came on as a substitute, remained the captain. Shreyas said he was honored to have the opportunity to lead KKR. Shreyas said he hopes to bring together players from different countries and move them forward as a team.
‘I am proud to have had the opportunity to lead a team like KKR. The IPL brings together the best players from different countries and cultures as a tournament and I want to lead this great group of very talented individuals, ”Shreyas said in a statement issued after the franchise took over the captaincy.
The team’s head coach Brendan McCullum also shared his excitement at the decision. “I have enjoyed Shreyas’ game and his captaincy skills from afar and now I want to work with him to take KKR forward in the style we want it to,” McCullum said.
