Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh): Indian opener Shubman Gill about a new record in ODI cricket. He scored 26 runs in the match against New Zealand and became the fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs. South Africa legend Hashim Amla’s record was surpassed. It took 40 innings for Amluck to complete 2000 runs, while Gill had to play only 38 innings. Pakistani players Zaheer Abbas, Babar Azam, English player Kevin Pietersen and South Africa’s Razie van der Dusen have scored 2000 runs in 45 innings.
Entering the fifth match of the World Cup, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets. Virat Kohli scored 95 runs off 104 balls to make the win easy. Kohli returned for his century by being caught by Glenn Phillips off Matt Henry for five runs. With the victory, India has won all the five matches played in the World Cup and topped the list.
