During the event Anime Expo 2022, Warner Bros. Japan revealed a promotional video for the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga written by Takumi Fukui y Shinya Umemuraand illustrated by Ajichika, Shuumatsu no Valkyrie (Record of Ragnarok). The video confirms the production team and maintains the premiere scheduled for the year 2023 in Netflix.
The first season premiered globally in the platform’s catalog Netflix in June 2021, with a total of twelve episodes. For their part, Fukui, Umemura and Ajichika began publishing the manga through the magazine Monthly Comic Zenon from the publisher Tokuma Shoten in November 2017.
Production team
- Masao Ookubo (Onegai My Melody Yū & Ai, Gekijōban PriPara: Mi ~ nna de Kagayake! Kirarin Star Live) is in charge of directing this second season in the studios Graphinica In collaboration with Yumeta Company.
- Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Bungo Stray Dogs Wan!, By the Grace of the Gods) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts, in collaboration with Yuka Yamada (Aikatsu!).
- Masaki Sato returns to handle character design and animation direction.
- Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) returns to take charge of the composition of the soundtrack.
Sinopsis de Shuumatsu no Valkyrie
High above the realm of man, the gods of the world have gathered to decide on a single issue: the continued existence of mankind. Under the head of Zeus, the deities of Ancient Greece, Norse mythology and Hinduism, among others, convene an assembly every thousand years to decide the fate of humanity. Due to their relentless abuse of each other and the planet, this time the gods unanimously vote in favor of ending the human race.
But before the mandate passes, Brunhild, one of the 13 Valkyrie demigoddesses, comes up with an alternative proposal: instead of annihilating humanity in an anticlimactic way, why not give them a fighting chance and enact Ragnarok, a one-on-one showdown? to one between man and god?
