Leonardo Sigali was one of the great figures in the elimination of Racing by penalties against Boca in the semifinals of the League Cup. The center-back spoke after the match played on the Lanús pitch and showed his sadness at the result, but he also made it clear that this is the way the team must continue to grow. In addition, he stated that the duel must be overcome quickly and focus on what is coming for the Copa Sudamericana.
El Oso played a great match against Boca. The captain was, as always, the standard-bearer of a defensive system that today worked perfectly. Boca literally did not kick on goal in the 90 minutes. In addition, he showed a lot of ease to go out playing and place some assistance that could well have ended in a goal. “Today I think we were vastly superior, and not only in the first half, but this is how it is, penalties are like that”said Sigali, who was very hurt by the elimination: “It hurts a lot because we and the people were very excited, but now to mourn. El Oso, even when it is time to say goodbye unbeaten to a tournament in which Racing was the best team in the contest, recalled the message that the group has held since the beginning of the season: “Thank all the people who trusted, all the leaders and the coaching staff, because the truth is that we all did this together”.
The Academy bids farewell to the competition undefeated, being the team that conceded the fewest goals and one of those that scored the most in the League Cup. An injustice clearly knowing that the rival did not kick a single shot on goal in the Lanús court and dedicated himself to obstructing the game in every possible way to go to penalties.
