Riyadh: Road accident deaths in Saudi Arabia have decreased by 35 percent in the last five years. According to the World Health Organization, the number of road deaths fell from 9,311 in 2016 to 6,651 in 2021, which is now the largest decrease recorded.

This Saudi achievement will contribute greatly to achieving the global goal of reducing road accident deaths by 50 percent by 2030. Reducing deaths due to road accidents is one of the goals of ‘Vision 2030’. The continuous support and activities of the Ministerial Committee on Traffic Safety and related departments have resulted in the reduction in road accident deaths.

He said that after the video of the young women performing stunts went viral, the three young women were arrested during the investigation.

When the arrested women were interrogated, they admitted to driving in a dangerous manner. Then their bikes were confiscated. Fines were imposed for several traffic violations, including driving in a manner that endangers life. A fine of Dh2,000 and 23 traffic black points on the driver’s license were imposed. Apart from this, the vehicle was impounded for two months. According to the UAE Traffic Law, the cost of reclaiming impounded vehicles is Dh50,000.
