Silver Line: Laying stones is not for land acquisition: K Rail MD | Kerala | Deshabhimani

Thiruvananthapuram
K Rail MD V Ajit Kumar said that the stone was being laid for the social impact study of the Silver Line project and not for land acquisition. He told a news conference that the land would be acquired only after the full satisfactory compensation was handed over.

Acting in accordance with the law. The project needs to find those affected. No one owns land or property at this stage. Land will be acquired only after the final approval of the Government and the Railway Board. Only by conducting a social impact study can the supporters and opponents of the project be understood and compensated. The report will be prepared through a public hearing to assess the social impact study. It will be examined by an expert committee and handed over to the government. The committee will consist of two sociologists, a local government representative, a rehabilitation expert and a technical expert.

Action will be taken if the panel of experts proposes to change the alignment. For those who wish, the compensation can be deposited in K Rail as a bond and repaid with interest.

Proceed with stoning

Protesters will complete the study by replacing the stones. No one needs to worry about land being acquired without compensation. The High Court has given permission for Kallidan. It will be completed in two months. The environmental study will be conducted in three months. Ajit Kumar said it was a natural step to lay the foundation stone for the implementation of all the projects that have been approved in principle.
