According to the court, the 12th Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Dong-beom Andong) sentenced Jeon Joo-hwan, who was charged with violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (camera, etc. conduct a trial.

From November 2019 to October last year, Jeon Joo-hwan is charged with stalking by sending illegal filmed footage to Victim A, who is a motive for joining the Seoul Transportation Corporation, or by contacting him through text messages and Kakao Talk more than 350 times from November 2019 to October last year.

The court merged the two cases and proceeded with a hearing, and the prosecution requested a nine-year prison sentence for him at a trial on the 18th of last month.

The court was originally scheduled to give the first trial sentence for Jeon Joo-hwan on the 15th, but on the 14th, one day before his sentencing, he killed a victim who was on patrol at Sindang Station, and the sentencing was postponed to the 29th of this month.

Meanwhile, on the 15th, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Jeon Joo-hwan on the murder charge. The police changed the charge to retaliatory murder and handed over Jeon Joo-hwan to the prosecution on the 21st.

The prosecution, who took over the case, has set up a dedicated investigation team and is continuing additional reinforcement investigations, including a search and seizure of the Seoul Transportation Corporation.

The deadline for the prosecution’s arrest investigation against Jeon Joo-hwan expires on the 30th. However, the prosecution is expected to prosecute after extending the arrest period once. According to the Criminal Procedure Act, if a suspect is not prosecuted within 10 days, the suspect will be released.
