After a huge sinkhole last week in Tielt, a second has just formed on the shoulder of the E17 motorway near Waregem. The reason ? Damage to a sewage system.

“The Mannebeek sewer network runs under the E17 and has had its day. Further research should clarify what needs to be done now,” says Dirk Vanhuysse of the NB Roads and Traffic Agency.
Work is taking place from this Friday until August 25th. The highway is reduced to two lanes at this point and the speed is limited to 70 km/h. Note that the abyss did not cause any accidents.
