Ski ace and climate activist Julian Schütter is ending his career at just 25 years old

One of Julian Schütter’s greatest successes: In the European Cup in 2022, he achieved a podium finish with third place in the Super-G in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

“My activism is not the reason for my resignation, on the contrary, it was always on the pro/con list under Pro-continuing. Last November, when I started training again after my knee injury, I noticed that this was me Sport is no longer as fulfilling as it used to be,” Schütter is quoted as saying in an ÖSV broadcast.

It continues: “I have realized that it no longer seems desirable for me to have a classic racing career and retire at 35 or 40. The persistent disc problems that have been plaguing me since the beginning of December and this year’s once again shockingly long list of injuries The World Cup showed me once again how much I was risking my physical health.
