Choi Seung-bin’s appearance, with his hair cut short and dyed red, looked like the main character of Slam Dunk, ‘Kang Baek-ho’, had appeared in reality after tearing out of a cartoon.
Like Kang Baek-ho, a relatively short power forward in the cartoon, Choi Seung-bin also took on the role of a big man with his height of 191 cm and fought against players taller than him.
Choi Seung-bin’s hair, which he dyed red after seeing the movie Slam Dunk earlier this year and was deeply impressed by it, has now returned to black.
Choi Seung-bin, whom we met at the KBL Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where the rookie draft combine was held on the 12th, laughed and said, “The draft is coming soon, so I guess I should go cleanly. I dyed my hair black.”
Choi Seung-bin, whose mother is Russian, said, “When I think about the draft, I am both nervous and excited. I have been playing basketball for over 10 years, and the draft is a time to evaluate those years.”
He expressed his ambition by saying, “I am not a player who scores a lot of points. But I will help the team. I will work hard on rebounds and show my best in the defensive aspect as well.”
On the college stage, Seungbin Choi’s height allowed him to fight at the bottom of the goal, but the professional stage is different.

Choi Seung-bin’s homework right now is shooting outside. Seungbin Choi’s 3-point success rate in this year’s college league is 16.4%. The free throw percentage is only 55.7%, so improvement in overall shooting ability is required.
However, Seungbin Choi is not a player without scoring ability.
He ranked second in average scoring (13 points) among college league teams, following Congolese player Freddie (17.6 points).
In the 39th MBC Cup National College Basketball Tournament, which ended last July, he scored an average of 19.7 points per game and was named the team’s highest scorer.
Choi Seung-bin said, “I’ve been practicing shooting a lot lately,” but said he wouldn’t forget the “Kang Baek-ho spirit” even in the pros.
The ambition is to show that like Kang Baek-ho in the cartoon, he throws his body towards the ball and does his best to fight for the rebound.
Choi Seung-bin, who said, “Kang Baek-ho is my role model,” said, “I thought his attitude toward basketball was similar to mine. I will show you that kind of play in the pros as well.”
The rookie draft will be held at Jamsil Student Gymnasium in Seoul at 3 p.m. on the 21st.
