The SLFP union announced on Sunday that it would file a new strike notice within the SIAMU (fire and emergency medical aid service) of the Brussels-Capital Region, following the theft of an ambulance in response and the attack on ambulances during the night from Saturday to Sunday.

Last night, an emergency ambulance was stolen in Laeken but the vehicle was found shortly followingwards. A little later, SIAMU paramedics were attacked in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode.

Faced with these incidents, the SLFP asks the authorities what they “expect” to ensure the protection of first responders within the Brussels-Capital Region. “A death in our ranks? », he asks himself. The union is also concerned regarding the system that will be put in place to protect agents during the end-of-year holidays.

“Every day, it is fear in the stomach that dozens of staff members have to leave the Yser metro station or the Gare du Nord to go to work,” explains the SLFP. “We see that the priorities are elsewhere and that the protection of workers, who carry out a job of helping and providing relief to the population, comes second. »
