US tennis player Sloane Stephens and soccer player Jozy Altidore got married. The pair of athletes tied the knot on January 1, as both announced on Instagram. The 28-year-old and the 32-year-old published a joint wedding photo in which they walk hand in hand across a reflective, flower-adorned corridor and beam at each other.

Stephens told the fashion magazine “Vogue”: “I really liked the symbolism of starting a new year completely fresh and with a new beginning.” The wedding took place in Florida, where they both met in school. According to Vogue, Stephens was in fifth grade and Altidore was in seventh grade when they met in the school hallway. In April 2019, the two athletes announced their engagement.
