Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Rajan P. Dev’s wife Shantamma has been arrested in connection with the suicide of Vembayam native Priyanka. The arrest of Shantamma, the second accused in the case, was registered by the Nedumangad DySP. Shantamma, who had earlier been granted anticipatory bail by the court, appeared before the investigating officer on the instructions of the court. They were later released on bail.
On May 12, 2021, Rajan P. Dev’s son Unni Rajan P. Dev’s wife Priyanka was found hanging in a house in Vembayam. Priyanka was a sports teacher at the Angamaly Village of International School. Priyanka committed suicide at her home after she lodged a complaint with the Vattapara police alleging that her husband and mother-in-law were constantly harassing her. Her husband Unni Rajan P Devan is the first accused in the case. Shantamma is the second accused. They were charged with inciting suicide and domestic violence. Police had earlier arrested Unni Rajan P Dev in connection with the case.
