ALGIERS – Smart building, which consists of the integration of energy management solutions in homes and business buildings to achieve better energy performance, is experiencing remarkable growth in Algeria, participants in a conference assured Thursday in Algiers. “There are very good references in terms of intelligent buildings in Algeria”, underlined the general director of Schneider Algeria, Anouar Chara, during the 1st edition of the “Innovation day in Algeria”, organized by his company in the presence professionals and experts from different sectors.
Smart building equipment and software are today installed in several constructions in the country, and are increasingly adopted, noted Mr. Chara, citing in this context hospitals, stadiums, factories, desalination stations of seawater, rail transport networks and airports.
He said that the “Nelson Mandela” stadium, located in Baraki in the suburbs of the capital, and inaugurated last January by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is equipped with the most recent digital solutions, “even exceeding the standards of stadiums in certain European countries, in terms of digitalization”.
According to him, this stadium has around 300 pieces of connected equipment, allowing the operator at the control room level to have fairly broad visibility in real time.
Mr. Chara also cited Djamâa el Djazair, the East-West highway tunnels, and other infrastructures which are equipped with advanced solutions in terms of digitalization and sustainability.
According to the explanations given during this meeting, the intelligent building represents the integration of innovative solutions in particular new energy production techniques, more virtuous heating and air conditioning systems, the development of the performance of ventilation systems, the choice more thought about the location of the building in terms of location and orientation.
