The tourism sector at the heart of the debate Tuesday in Agadir. To encourage entrepreneurship, inspire and instill a new dynamic, the Regional Development Company for the promotion of very small, small and medium-sized tourist businesses Souss-Massa (SDR TPMET SM) is organizing this December 12 the first edition of SMART Tourism Day. A number of 250 participants are expected. “This is the new professional meeting in the tourism landscape of the Souss-Massa region to boost tourism innovation and entrepreneurship in Agadir Souss-Massa,” indicates Hassan Aboutayeb, general director of SDR TPMET SM. Successful entrepreneurs, institutions and regional, national and international experts in tourism innovation will participate in this high mass, as well as key witnesses, to share their expertise and experience with project leaders. It is also about debating the new challenges of tourism in Souss-Massa and encouraging reflection on how to anticipate trends and reinvent regional tourism to meet the new expectations of travelers.
The meeting will also be an opportunity to present the progress report on the support program for regional tourism VSEs and SMEs. As a reminder, this program was initiated this year by the SDR TPMET SM with the support of its shareholder partners, which are the wilaya of the Souss-Massa region, the Souss-Massa regional council, the ministry of tourism, SMIT and the DCIS-SM. It aims to support new tourism project leaders and support the transformation of existing businesses in the region. And this, in particular through support for investment in the form of subsidies or investment bonuses. The first operation of its kind on a national scale, this innovative project targets 150 VSE-SMEs.
Today, the program is on track. Around a hundred projects were selected, following the first call for projects. Spread across the entire Souss-Massa region, they are mainly oriented towards entertainment and leisure. Now, it is imminent to move on to the contractualization stage with the applications selected in the first edition of the program’s call for projects. Before the award of bonuses and subsidies included in the program, it is a question of providing technical support, notably through training plans, to the selected candidates. Indeed, a training cycle will be launched for them to strengthen their skills. At the same time, a second call for projects will be launched at the beginning of next year. Thus, the SDR TPMET SM positions itself as the benchmark player in entrepreneurship and tourism innovation in the Souss-Massa region, through its support programs and its activities to encourage the sector.
