According to Qualcomm, the name Snapdragon X will help the public understand the chips as being specific to computers and disassociate the idea of similarity with processors made for smartphones and tablets. The company explains about its new launch saying:

The Snapdragon X series platforms build on our years of experience engineering heterogeneous computing architectures across central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and NPU. Now, leveraging our custom next-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a quantum leap in performance and power efficiency will anchor Snapdragon X and – when combined with our NPU – deliver accelerated on-device user experiences for the new era of generative AI.

Late last year, the Oryon CPU was first revealed and at the time it was said that it would be “integrated into a broad portfolio of Snapdragon products, starting with PCs and later including smartphones, digital cockpits, advanced driver assistance systems, reality extended and infrastructure network solutions.”
