The Neutral Union for the Self-Employed welcomes Monday the proposal of the Minister of Employment, Pierre-Yves Dermagne, to reduce the ceiling borne by traders during an electronic payment to 0.02 euro per transaction, against 0.056 euro currently.
“The increase in electronic transactions carried out by the consumer is significant. It has made it possible to increase the profits and margins of the banks. We can no longer hide behind the fact that there are fewer electronic transactions in Belgium than elsewhere. This time is over. In the Netherlands, the ceiling is set at 0.02 euros,” argued Mr. Dermagne on Sunday.
“This has been a demand of the SNI for more than a year, since the announcement of the obligation to have an electronic means of payment at all independents. We are therefore delighted that the minister has finally heard us. C This is a step in the right direction”, reacts the Union.
The announcement of the forthcoming establishment of a comparator of the various electronic payment solutions in order to better inform merchants of market offers is also welcomed by the SNI.
However, the organization regrets that the federations of independents were not consulted, unlike the banking federation Febelfin or Test Achats.
