Snooker World Championship: Mark Williams follows Ronnie O’Sullivan to the semi-finals of the World Championship – now Trump or Bingham are waiting

Williams is in the semifinals for the seventh time at the Crucible Theater. At 47, he is also the oldest semifinalist since Ray Reardon in 1985.

Williams, who had already led 6:2 after the first session, had failed on Tuesday evening. Yan Bingtao was able to equalize to 8:8 and also got off to a better start on Wednesday. The Chinese pulled away to 10:8 and later to 11:10, but Williams had more staying power at the back.

With breaks of 69, 66 and 78 points, the Welshman won three frames in a row to 13:11 and thus made it clear for the round of four.
