Major Chinese power generation companies saw a surge in investment in solar power projects in the first seven months of the year, official data showed.
Investment soared 304 percent year on year to 77.3 billion yuan (about 11.4 billion U.S. dollars) in the January-July period, the National Energy Administration said.
These companies’ investment in electrical engineering projects totaled 260 billion yuan during the period, a year-on-year increase of 16.8 percent.
Investment in power grid projects rose 10.4 percent year on year to 223.9 billion yuan, the data showed.
