Social Security Payment Schedule November 2026: Dates and Amounts

Social Security beneficiaries in the United States face a revised payment schedule in November 2026, with key distributions shifting due to federal holidays. As of November 5, 2026, the SSA continues to distribute benefit payments for the month, following adjustments that saw early deposits for some recipients in late October. The agency currently serves approximately 71.6 million beneficiaries across the country.

Because November 11 is Veterans Day, a federal holiday, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has adjusted the delivery dates for those whose payments are typically scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month. Beneficiaries must consult their birth dates to determine when their funds will arrive throughout the remainder of the month.

Remaining Payment Schedule for November

The SSA has confirmed the following distribution dates for retirees, survivors, and those receiving Disability Insurance (SSDI) who began their benefits on or after May 1997:

  • November 10: For those born between the 1st and the 10th of any month.
  • November 18: For those born between the 11th and the 20th of any month.
  • November 25: For those born between the 21st and the 31th of any month.

Payments Already Distributed

Some beneficiaries have already received their November funds. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments were issued on October 30, 2026, as the first of the month fell on a Sunday. The SSA issued payments on November 3 for individuals who began receiving benefits prior to May 1997, as well as for those who receive both Social Security and SSI simultaneously.

SSA Reports Average Monthly Benefit Amounts and Payment Methods

The SSA reports the following monthly average payment figures for beneficiaries: $2,034.54 for Social Security retirement, $1,499.41 for disability, $1,636.31 for survivor benefits, and $735.86 for SSI. The agency notes that for those claiming benefits based on another person’s work history, the worker’s birth date determines the payment timing.

The SSA currently delivers benefits primarily through direct deposit or the Direct Express debit card. To request the latter, individuals can call 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or visit a local Social Security office. The agency is actively working to phase out paper checks, and beneficiaries are encouraged to ensure their banking information remains current to avoid disruptions in payment delivery.

Looking ahead, the administration has announced a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2027, which will begin appearing in payments in January 2027 for retirees and on December 31, 2026, for SSI recipients.
