The social worker of the “central zone” day center, Oscar Morales, informed RÍO NEGRO Diary that currently the activities and workshops are taught by neighborhood commissions due to the lack of their own spaces. “We don’t have a place to work and we are on the neighborhood committees because we don’t have a single space for ourselves” described.
On the other hand, Morales denounced what: «We have been working under these conditions for more than seven years“We have contributions every three months of 130 thousand pesos, which is for workshops and refreshments, but it is not enough.”
The worker commented that previously, the claim was raised to the authorities of Mental Health, Metropolitan Area and Primary Health Care (all dependent on the Undersecretary of Health of Neuquén) but that the response was: “The money does not come from the treasury, that is why the necessary resources are not provided.”
Morales pointed out that: “There is a management that leaves and another that enters and we don’t know which way they will want to go”. In turn, he described that the current management keeps them “totally excluded” from the decisions that are made, “We do not participate in anything, and that is why we are the way we are” he communicated.
Finally, the worker commented that, due to the lack of budget, many workshops that were held in the day centers were financed by the professionals who work there. “We finance some workshops and others could be taught by Education because we made an agreement with them” express.
