Six municipalities in Cordoba received the “Committed Municipality” recognition granted by UNICEF for having completed the first stage of the United Municipality for Children and Adolescents (MUNA) initiative, in which they carried out a self-diagnosis on the situation of children in their localities. and an Action Plan to respond to the main problems identified.

These are Córdoba, Cosquín, Malvinas Argentinas, Fourth quarterRio Tercero and Villa Maria.

What’s next for the municipalities recognized by Unicef

With the distinction, Unicef ​​(the area of ​​the United Nations dedicated to children) highlights the commitment assumed by the municipalities to implement their Action Plan during the next three years and achieve the goals established in their plans.

The activities that the municipalities have planned in their respective Action Plans for each thematic line must be reported annually and will have UNICEF’s support throughout the process.

Once the municipality has completed the implementation of the Action Plan and successfully achieved its objectives, it will be in a position to obtain the “Certification of United Municipality for Children and Adolescents”.

United Municipality for Children and Adolescents (MUNA) is one of the priority initiatives of the UNICEF Country Program for its period 2021-2025 and its objective is to put at the center of the municipalities’ agenda the improvement of their management oriented to the guarantee of the rights of girls, boys and adolescents, through the strengthening of their capacities, and technical assistance. }Currently, it is being implemented in 80 municipalities in nine provinces: Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Chaco, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, Misiones, Salta, Santa Fe and Tucumán. By the end of 2025, the aim is to reach 250 municipalities.

The Ombudsman’s Office for the Rights of Girls, Boys and Adolescents of the Province of Córdoba (DDNA) works to make effective compliance with the rights of girls and boys. It is a consulting and advisory body for children and adolescents and their families.
