Sol Cresta: a date for the PlatinumGames project

Having suffered a slight delay, the passion project from home PlatinumGames finally reveals its release date. Old school shoot ’em up sun crest, first announced as an April Fool’s joke, will be headed by Hideki Kamiya (Okami, Bayonetta, The Wonderful 101…) and will join our favorite hybrid console in just under a month.

sun crest will be an official sequel to Moon Crest and Terra Cresta, two shoot ’em ups released in the 80s by a company named Nihon Bussan, better known as Nichibutsu (it unfortunately closed its doors in 2014). Fed with shmups, Hideki Kamiya wanted to pay homage to this mythical genre while using the power of modern machines as well as the game design innovations that have been made for thirty years. Having obtained the approval of the owner of the license, PlatinumGames was able to launch the production of the game with Kamiya as creative director and Takanori Sato as director. Given the pedigree of the studio, the result could well delight fans of the genre and more particularly those of the series. Crest : appointment on February 22 on theeShop to find out.

The trailer and the presentation of Sol Cresta

Pilot three starships and free the solar system from the clutches of evil in this shoot ’em up! PlatinumGames’ NEO-CLASSIC ARCADE series continues the spirit and fun of classic games using modern technology, and the first project in this endeavor is Sol Cresta. Sol Cresta takes the strategies of classic shooters Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta and enhances them with the “free docking” system. The flagship Yamato, consisting of the ships Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano, can use various attacks depending on the alignment of the three ships. Docking, splitting and reforming ships as needed is key to defeating Mandler’s armies.
