Protect the most vulnerable by wearing a mask. This is the idea of the campaign “ Solidarity mask », launched by three patient associations Renaloo, Aides et ELLyE and supported in particular by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, in partnership with health insurance, et Public health France.

Since the Covid epidemic, we, as more fragile people, have been living in more anxiety.

15 %

Wearing a mask in enclosed public places remains very marginal. Only 15% of French people wear a mask in the presence of vulnerable people, and only 50% intend to wear it if symptoms appear.

“Covid-19, in fact, is still circulating, at the same time as other respiratory infections. These viruses continue of hit hard vulnerable people and in particular severely immunocompromised people,” notes the Ameli site.

The Manche renal insufficiency association in support

“Obviously, since the Covid epidemic, we live, as more fragile people, more in anguish », testifies Claire Letellier, President of the Manche Association of Renal Patients. If this association is not at the origin of the call for solidarity masks and was “not requested for the operation”, she supports the initiative.

Vulnerable people and in particular severely immunocompromised people respond poorly or not at all to vaccination. They even run an increased risk of serious forms, hospitalization and death.

« We catch all these viruses more easilyso we understand that it is difficult to put the mask back on, for us too… But it is our daily constraint,” sighs Claire Letellier.
