Somalia and Kenya resume trade in stimulant khat

The Foreign Ministers of Somalia and Kenya announced that the presidents of the two countries signed a number of agreements on Friday, one of them related to the resumption of the stimulant khat trade, indicating the improvement of bilateral relations.

The two neighboring countries are fighting an insurgency linked to al-Qaeda that has killed thousands of civilians over the past decade.

However, relations between them were rocked by a dispute over ownership of potential offshore oil and gas reserves.
