A vegetation fire with an area of ​​around 9,000 m2 was reported on Tuesday around 6:00 p.m. along the Brussels ring road, at the level of the Drève Olympique in Anderlecht, said around 7:00 p.m. the spokesman for the Brussels fire brigade, Walter Derieuw .

The fire is now out, but firefighters continue to hose down the area to ensure the fire doesn’t flare up.

Many motorists had called the central 112 to report the fire.

“Along the ring, a fire can cause visibility problems with the smoke. This is why it is important to act quickly,” underlined Walter Derieuw.

A pumper and a tank truck were enough to put out the fire. The work of watering is however still long after the extinction of the flames.

The origin of the fire remains to be determined.
