Just a few days ago, the melodic metal whirlwinds SONATA ARCTICA started the world tour for their current record “Clear Cold Beyond” in their Finnish homeland. Motivated by the success of the new record, with which they were able to celebrate some of the highest chart positions in their 25-year history (including 12th place in the Swiss charts), the band is today finally announcing an extensive European headline tour away from their home country.
This will take them to 27 concerts through twelve countries in September and October this year, accompanied by the Greek cult metallers FIREWIND as special guests as well as the German power metallers SERIOUS BLACK, who will occupy the opening slot. The Northern European section of that trip will be on top of that ARCTIC SONATAs new RPM labelmates, the Swedish symphonic metallers TUNGSTEN, while the power metal newcomers FINAL STRIKE, also based in Sweden, will act as sole support at the tour opener. Keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg is happy: “Our European shows with STRATOVARIUS last fall were really great. These were power metal evenings at their best! With “Clear Cold Beyond” we finally have a new studio album out after five years, which is why we naturally want to follow on from the previous tour and present our new tracks live to the fans. So it’s all set: see you in the fall!”
