Sonos Voice Control is a voice experience that provides hands-free, fast, and precise control of your music and Sonos system while respecting your privacy.
Sonos has unveiled, via an update to the Sonos application, the availability of the Sonos Voice Control voice experience in France for all its French users. Available since June 1 in English in the United States, Sonos Voice Control makes it easy to control your music and your Sonos system using only your voice. The service is now available in French.
“The voice is one of the most natural ways to connect with music. But in talking with users, we found that many of them were concerned that their privacy was being violated and were unhappy with the accuracy, speed and ease of use of existing voice services” , explains Joseph Dureau, Vice-President, Voice Experience, Sonos. “We created Sonos Voice Control to be able to launch and control content on a Sonos system, putting privacy at the heart of the service. Since its launch in the US, we’ve found that 40% of Sonos Voice Control users haven’t used any voice assistants before. We’re also seeing that those using voice control are listening to 30% more music than before. We are delighted with this progress and hope to expand Sonos Voice Control to new people and in other countries, starting today in France.”
• Sonos Voice Control works on all voice-enabled Sonos speakers, and handles requests entirely on-device. No audio recordings and transcriptions are sent to the cloud, stored, listened to or played by anyone. Sonos Voice Control is available on all new voice-enabled products and available for free via an update to the Sonos app. Sonos Voice Control is compatible with Sonos Radio, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer. More streaming services and markets will be added.
• Fast and precise control of your music and your Sonos system. Sonos Voice Control finds the music you want to listen to and processes requests entirely on device. This local processing guarantees a faster response and simpler sequences. Just say “Hey Sonos” and then follow up with a command, without having to repeat the wake-up word. As with the Sonos app, you can control music and speakers in any room, move music from one space to another, save and “like” your favorite songs to your personal music library, and much more. .
• Sonos Voice Control understands the nuances of human communication and can respond to natural commands, like “Turn it up!” in the United States or, as of today, “Monte le volume” in France. Thanks to advanced recording techniques, advanced processing and mastering, the voice is natural and discreet while remaining assured and engaging. As the Sonos experience expands to other users and countries, the French and US voices of Sonos will be joined by others.
