Sony confirmed an indefinite postponement for the PlayStation Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, missing their planned November 12, 2026 release date just days before arrival, levelup.com reported.
The company attributed the setback to quality control testing that uncovered an internal production issue. Engineers require additional time to rectify the manufacturing defect before bringing the hardware to market. Sony offered apologies to fans for the inconvenience and thanked them for their patience and understanding.
No revised launch window has been established, leaving it unknown when the items will go on sale or how long fans might have to wait, whether days, weeks, or months. It remains unclear how many units were manufactured before the schedule change, how existing speakers might be affected, or what will happen to players’ pre-orders.
Buyers in initial launch territories including the United States, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Portugal face an open-ended wait for the $219.99 USD audio accessories. For now, Mexico and other regions in Latin America are not part of the first round.
The timing removes the Pulse Elevate speakers from the launch window of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI, which debuts globally in mid-November 2026. The hardware was engineered for cross-compatibility across the standard PlayStation 5, the PS5 Pro, the PS Portal, as well as PCs, Macs, and Bluetooth mobile devices. The Pulse Elevate speakers were announced alongside the Pulse Elite wireless headset and the Pulse Explorer wireless earbuds.
In its official statement, Sony addressed the delay directly: As part of our quality control tests of the Pulse Elevate speakers, we detected a production issue and decided to delay their launch.
This additional time will allow us to ensure the product delivers the experience we had planned for our users.
While the speaker rollout is stalled, other ecosystem elements maintain their schedules. The PlayStation Pulse wireless headset remains on track for a November 19, 2026 release, aligning directly with the deployment date of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Meanwhile, a regional hardware revision—the PlayStation 5 Midnight Black digital edition priced at $399.99 USD—is limited to Japanese retail channels for its initial release. Although the speakers will miss the Rockstar Games title’s premiere, Sony will launch other products in the coming weeks.
