Sony has recently announced the upcoming launch of PlayStation Plus’ advanced and premium services in June, and a few months later, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now will no longer exist in the form they have been known for over the past few years, causing many concerns and questions for players. Prior to this, Sony also had corresponding measures to launch, which seemed to be lifting the car for the upcoming advanced subscription service.

The new PlayStation Plus advanced and premium service has not officially opened player subscriptions. The original PlayStation Now subscribers wanted to add a few more months now, but found that Sony seems to be limiting everyone’s subscription accumulation.On the US version of the PlayStation Plus FAQ page (hidden inbottom of here), and is further cracking down on exploits that offer users early discounts on the upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium service. It’s also suspending prepaid cards for PlayStation Plus and Now for current subscribers until its new service launches in June, and there’s even an official conversion graph showing conversion value for three different tiers of service.
After Sony announced plans to restructure PlayStation Plus into a new three-tier service to further compete with services from Microsoft and Nintendo, it hasn’t been clear how the transition to the new tier will work. PlayStation N0w is a cloud streaming service launched by Sony. After the launch of the new service, it hopes to convert the original subscribers to the upcoming PlayStation Plus premium. The annual subscription fee is 2,288 yuan. Players started stacking prepaid subscriptions to PlayStation Now on consoles and PCs due to the dramatic increase in costs, and while Sony was quick to stop many people from taking advantage of the discounts, it didn’t stop players from buying and redeeming in the market These prepaid cards for some kind of service.
Sony’s current strategy is to prevent players from opening prepaid discount cards online until PS Plus restarts, and only users who haven’t subscribed can redeem 1, 3, or 12-month prepaid cards, which are still Sold at many retailers and outlets. What happens if you still have a prepaid card on hand after June? Sony has produced a conversion chart to illustrate the value of the original old card when switching to the new service. While a month’s worth of PlayStation Now won’t get you a month’s worth of PlayStation Plus premium service, Sony says you’ll still get “for a length of time equal to the value of the original prepaid card.”
While such a description doesn’t actually make it any clearer, hopefully the next Sony update will be the full list of games that PlayStation Plus Premium and Premium versions can access, so people can get a clearer idea of why these new tiers are worth subscribing to.
