Although Sony’s electric vehicle plans so far are limited to prototype concept cars, compared to two years ago, Sony now has more specific plans for the future market and development of electric vehicles. They will set up a company called “Sony Mobility Inc.” this spring, and use this as a basis to develop electric vehicle-related businesses. Sony did not further specify the specific car model or the time on the road, but it is worth mentioning that since December 2020, Sony has been actively testing on the road in Europe and has carried out related certifications for its sensing system. It seems intentional to start with the European market.
