Sony Xperia 1 V: first renders show almost unchanged design

The Sony Xperia 1 IV was a rather successful smartphone and the Japanese firm is currently preparing the marketing of its successor, the Xperia 1 V. The famous leaker OnLeaksin partnership with the website Green Smartphoneshas already published some renderings that give a first idea of its general look, but also of its technical sheet.

To be considered with the usual caution, these images suggest a mobile in line with the previous one. We thus find the monolithic and elongated design, a rather pleasant format for consultation in landscape mode. We also observe the presence of a 3.5 mm jack that we imagine of quality with regard to the Japanese brand. We appreciate this connection which is extremely rare today in the high-end segment.

The pictures also reveal the power button hosting so far the fingerprint reader and the shutter. Sony would have once again opted for a matte coating on the back. It’s a safe bet that the Xperia 1 V will still benefit from IP68 certification against water and dust infiltration.

Classic configuration in photo

According to site information, the slab of the Xperia 1 V would measure 6.5 inches like last year. This smartphone would however be a little more compact with dimensions of 161.0 x 69.3 x 8.5 mm. At the rear would be a vertically positioned photo block, comprising a 12 Mpx main sensor, a 48 Mpx ultra-wide-angle module and a 12 Mpx telephoto lens (zoom not specified). Integrated into the front edge, a 12 Mpx sensor would take care of selfies.

High-end SoC to be expected

The SoC used to power the set is still unknown, but Sony should opt for the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which already powers the OnePlus 11 or the Samsung Galaxy S23. It could be accompanied by 16 GB of RAM (12 GB for the Xperia 1 IV) and a 5000 mAh battery.
