“Sony’s Latest Move in Multiplayer Gaming: Acquiring Firewalk Studios”

announced Sony Acquiring Firewalk Studios from ProbablyMonsters to help build an ‘Original AAA Multiplayer Game’ for PlayStation 5 and PC, as Sony has invested heavily in multiplayer games recently.

It acquired Destiny Bungie and Jade Raymond-led Haven Interactive Studios last year, and revealed in February 2022 that it plans to release more than 10 direct service games before March 2026, The Verge reported.

Sony may be best known for its expansive and cinematic single-player games, but it’s now looking to boost its multiplayer offering as well – which might be a significant decision once Microsoft’s closely scrutinized acquisition of Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard.



In addition to this new Firewalk game, Sony now has the popular sci-fi shooter Destiny 2, has a multiplayer game in development at Haven, and is making a multiplayer game in Guerrilla Games’ growing Horizon universe.
