TL ؛ DR

  • Sony has announced an Xperia event next week.
  • The company says it’s the product to “gaming and signage professionals.”

Presented by Sony Xperia 5 IV A few days ago, I received a high-end Android phone that is pocket friendly. It looks like the company has another announcement to share soon, and it’s focused on gamers.

Sony Xperia Twitter account Confident The new product will be announced on YouTube on September 12 at 1 PM JST (midnight ET). The mobile maker has also released a teaser video that you can watch below.

There’s no official word on what the company might announce on that day, but the teaser makes it clear that the product is “designed for professional gamers and livestream creators.” We’re not sure what that means, but it’s definitely mobile-related, as it hosts the launch of the Sony Xperia Kai.

We think the announcement might be something from the new portable console game phone. The company launched in partnership with BackBone Backbone One PlayStation Edition A console for iOS earlier this year. So the announcement may be the Android version of this gamepad.

A gaming phone will be more interesting, as Sony hasn’t released a gaming phone since 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. The device ships with four face buttons, a D-pad, a pair of shoulder buttons, and a slide-out gamepad with dual trackpads instead of analog sticks. So we’d love to see a successor with a similar design, 2022 specs, and access to Sony’s backgammon roster.
